In Wibsey, 69.2% of all people between the age of 16 and 74 are either working or seeking work (economically active). This is higher than the District average of 63.4%. The percentage of people who are economically active but unemployed is 5.3%. This is lower than the District average of 6.9%. Of those who are economically inactive in this age range, nearly ½ are retired. The remainder are students (10.6%); people looking after families and home (15.7%); the permanently sick or disabled (16.2%); or people who are inactive for other unspecified reasons (8.7%). The proportion of people who are economically inactive due to permanent sickness or disability is lower than the District average of 16.7%.
