Health and unpaid caring

In the 2001 Census, 10% of the population described their health as ‘not good’. The average for the Bradford District is 10.1%. 18.1% of the population have a long term illness that limits their daily activities. This may include any problems related to old age. In terms of unpaid care, 10.6% of the population provide some form of unpaid care. 23.4% of carers provide over 50 hours of unpaid care a week.

(1) People who responded yes to the question’ Do you have any long term illness, health problems or disability which limits your daily activities or the work you can do?’ A prompt asked people to include any problems due to old age.

(2) People looking after, giving help or support to family members, friends, neighbours or others because of long term physical or mental ill - health or disability or problems relating to old age.
